Japanese Foreign Minister Seeks Palestine to Discuss Current Issue

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono in Ramallah on Monday (25/12/2017). During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments relating to Baitul Maqdis (Jerusalem).

Quoted from the Anadolu Agency, Abbas informs Kono of the latest developments of Palestine and the region.

Abbas praised the Japanese vote in favor of a UN resolution at the General Assembly condemning the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He also praised Japan for continuing to support Palestinian economies and institutions, especially the Japanese-supported Jericho Industrial Park project.

Abbas also stressed that the Palestinians want to strengthen bilateral ties with Japan.

The Japanese minister, for the time being, said his country would continue to support a political process based on a two-state solution and provide economic support to the Palestinian people.
